1. ‘Righteousness by faith’ without obeying Jesus’s commandments = Deception
Is it righteousness by works or righteousness by faith that is required for heaven? When Jesus preached the righteous shall enter the kingdom of God, He meant you must truly become righteous from the inside out. He taught your heart must become righteous such that you obey His commandments. He also taught that final judgment is according to your works, whether they be righteous and holy or unjust and filthy. Satan and his servants pervert this truth and preach an alternate path to heaven which most churches and pastors call ‘righteousness by faith.’ This false teaching says that even when you disobey the commandments of Jesus and do unrighteousness, you can still be considered righteous by faith in Jesus. These deceivers explain that Jesus’s righteousness will cover your unrighteousness and allow you to enter heaven. This deception seems to offer an alternate way to heaven, and even uses vocabulary and phrases from the Bible such as ‘grace of God,’ ‘confess and believe in Lord Jesus,’ and ‘blood of Jesus.’ However, this teaching is Satan’s twist of God’s Word and is empty of the truth that came by Jesus.

2. Your righteousness is your obedience to God’s commandments
Throughout the Bible, obedient doers of God’s commandments are the righteous. In the Old Testament, Deuteronomy 6:25 says, "And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as He hath commanded us." Our righteousness is doing God’s commandments. In the New Testament, Romans 6:16-17 says, "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you." These verses tell us that those who do sin, that is disobey God, are servants of sin and spiritually dead. For those who obey the doctrine or teachings of Jesus from their heart, sin is the past and they become servants of righteousness. The Bible warns not to be deceived into thinking righteousness is anything other than doing—the righteous are those who do righteousness as God is righteous. 1 John 3:7 says, "Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he [God] is righteous." So, throughout the Word of God, righteousness is defined as obeying or doing God’s commandments.

3. Righteousness required for eternal life is obeying Jesus’s commandments
The Bible also warns not to be deceived into believing that the unrighteous will go to heaven: 1 Corinthians 6:9 says, "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived..." Jesus taught the truth of eternal life, so, let’s learn from Him what is the righteousness required to go to heaven. A ruler directly asked Jesus what he needed to do to get eternal life. In Matthew 19:17-19 Jesus replied, "…if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He [the ruler] saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honor thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." As the basic requirement to enter heaven, we must obey commandments that essentially say to do no harm or evil to others and to take care of our family duty with integrity. This same teaching is recorded in the gospels of Mark 10:17-19 and Luke 18:19-20. Please notice, Jesus teaches the requirement of eternal life is doing His commandments.

Jesus also preached that the righteous are those who obey His commandments, and at judgment time, they will get eternal life. In the parable of the sheep and goat, He separates souls into two groups—one blessed with heaven and one cursed for hell. The only criteria used to divide souls is obedience to His commandments; souls are separated according to obeying or disobeying the commandment to love God with all your being. In this parable, the righteous loved God at the most basic level by helping God’s poor servants with simple needs. Those who obey this commandment Jesus calls righteous and blesses with eternal life; those who disobey this commandment Jesus curses to hell. Matthew 25:44-46 says, "...Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal." The righteous are obedient doers of the commandments of Jesus in this present life, and they get eternal life.

4. Souls will be judged according to works of righteousness and holiness
The Bible says in many places that your soul will be judged for eternity according to your works, according to what you did or did not do, according to your obeying or disobeying Jesus’s commandments. In John 5:28-29 Jesus says "...for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." You go to eternal life or eternal damnation according to whether you did good or did evil. There is no assurance of eternal life according to what you knew or claimed that Jesus did; eternal life and eternal judgment is according to what you did. In Revelations 20:12, Apostle John says, "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." Final judgement is according to how intensely you chose to obey or disobey God with what you were given; the intensity of your obedience or disobedience will be known and evident by your works.

5. Jesus’s final message: Judged by your works, Do commandments for heaven
So, what are these works your soul will be judged according to? And what is the righteousness that is mandatory for eternal life? In Revelations 22 the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ answers both questions in His last message to the churches. Let’s look at this message in two parts. First, in Revelations 22:11-13 Lord Jesus Christ says, "He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last." Please notice that at final judgment Jesus is not an advocate, mediator, or intercessor to save you. At that point, you are what you are. He will be the most righteous Judge who will judge you according to what you are, as was proven by what you did.

Eternal rewards of blessing or curse are only given according to whether you and your works were righteous and holy, or unjust and filthy. Works of religion and tradition, such as attending church activities, fasting, professing God’s goodness, dressing a specific way, long prayers and emotional singing will not take you to heaven. Works of Mosaic law such as tithing, observing the Sabbath and circumcision will not take you to heaven. Works of God such as prophesying, speaking in tongues, casting out devils or other signs and wonders will not take you to heaven. In the second part of his final message, in Revelations 22:14-16 Lord Jesus Christ says, "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches." Only those who do the commandments of Jesus get eternal life. Examples of the disobedient are named and they will not enter the city, which is heaven. Declaring belief, love and thanks to God for His goodness, will not make Lord Jesus Christ a blind, unrighteous judge who allows unrighteous churchgoers into heaven. The righteousness mandatory to enter heaven is obeying the commandments of Jesus.

6. Satan’s deceptions are empty of requiring obedience to Jesus’s commandments
Satan and his servants corrupt the truth that came by Jesus and preach an alternate way to heaven which many churches call ‘righteousness by faith.’ This deception rejects the simple requirement of obedience to enter heaven. The false doctrine was popularized by RC Sproul and many pastors continue this teaching that there is nothing we do or do not do that takes us to heaven. Instead, they preach sinning churchgoers can still have ‘righteousness by faith,’ in which the righteousness of Jesus will cover their unrighteousness to take them to heaven. They teach that believing in the blood of Jesus as the grace of God for your sins is all it takes for an unrighteous, sinning person to declare and label themself as righteous in God’s eyes to enter heaven. These servants of Satan accuse true believers and disciples of Jesus of being proud, self-righteous, and foolish for obeying and preaching Jesus’s teaching. This so-called ‘righteousness by faith’ is a clever deception as it uses language from the Bible. But this teaching is an alternate way to heaven that twists the Word of God to create loopholes that permit disobeying God’s commandments with assurance of heaven.

To not be deceived, we must anchor ourselves in what Jesus taught and did as He is the truth. Satan’s servants preach another Jesus, another Spirit and another Gospel in which the core deceiving message denies the requirement of obeying the commandments of Jesus to enter heaven: 2 Corinthians 11:2-4 says, "For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him." The simplicity that is in Christ is the way to eternal life is obeying His commandments. To become a chaste virgin to Christ we must become pure and clean of sin. Satan as the serpent deceived Eve to disobey God. Now also, in direct opposition to the truth Jesus taught, false teachers corrupt churchgoers with Satan’s message that they will be accepted into heaven despite disobeying God’s commandments. Apostle Paul warns that any message that deviates from obeying the teachings of Jesus to enter heaven is another Jesus, another gospel, and another spirit; they are Satan’s deception. With this warning in mind, let’s examine the false teaching called ‘righteousness by faith.’ This deception commonly uses three phrases from the Bible: ‘grace of God,’ ‘confess and believe in Lord Jesus,’ and ‘blood of Jesus,’ so let’s see what Satan says and what God says about each of these phrases.

7. God’s grace teaches and empowers to reject sin; Satan’s grace permits sin
First, deceivers claim that you will go to heaven by faith in the ‘grace of God’ and not by your obedience to Jesus. So, Satan’s definition of grace is empty of obeying the commandments of Jesus. Let’s look how the Bible defines grace: Titus 2:11-12 says, "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world." The grace of God teaches to reject sin and live righteously and godly while we are in the world. The grace of Satan teaches to claim and believe yourself to be righteous in God’s sight even while continuing in sin. Stating you are righteous while you sin is simply a lie, and the Devil is the father of lies. The deceitful grace of Satan will remove the fear of God and give you another Jesus who will accept you just as you are without obedience. Hebrew 12:28 says, "...let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire." The true grace of God will empower and strengthen you to obey God’s commandments; it will teach you to fear God as a consuming fire who will pour His wrath on disobedient souls.

8. Lord Jesus’s servants obey His commandments
Next, deceivers claim that the only requirement for sinners to enter heaven is to ‘confess and believe Lord Jesus.’ Most churches and pastors define this to mean the sinner must declare and trust that Jesus’s crucifixion, death, and blood are God’s unconditional gift for their sins. Deceived religious churchgoers believe and declare this as their testimony of Jesus; they think their filthy, sinful, unrighteousness will be covered by Jesus’s clean, pure, righteousness to take them to heaven. So, Satan’s definition of ‘confess and believe Lord Jesus’ is empty of obeying Jesus’s commandments. Let’s see what Jesus says about those who call him ‘Lord’ while disobeying Him; in Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus says, "Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Jesus does not want lip service of empty words. If you call Him ‘Lord’ that means He is the master who commands His will, and you are the servant who obeys His commandments. He will throw out those who work iniquity even if they claim doing other wonderful works in His name. If you truly accept Jesus as Lord, you will obey him; if you truly believe in Jesus, you will do His commandments.

9. Blood of Jesus is Conditional; it applies to Past Sins of the Sanctified
Finally, deceivers claim it is nothing but the blood of Jesus that covers your unrighteousness to take you to heaven. Most pastors explain the purpose of Jesus’s death on the cross is for sinning churchgoers to claim Jesus’s blood for their past, present, and future sins to go to heaven. So, servants of Satan preach the crucifixion, death and blood of Jesus does not require obeying the commandments of Jesus. However, the Bible says the very purpose of Jesus’s death is for us to no longer continue in sin: 1 Peter 2:21-22,24 says, "..hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin...Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness." The purpose of Jesus’s death is for Christians to turn away from past sins and follow His steps to live a righteous life. The blood of Jesus is conditional: it only applies to the past sins of those who turn away from their old life of sin and to live a new life of righteousness. 1 John 1:5-7 says, "...God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he [God] is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." Jesus died and shed his blood for the sins of the whole world. But His blood will only apply to past sins of those who walk in the light by living in obedience to His commandments. Those who claim to be ‘in Christ’ and claim the righteous blood of Jesus covers them while they continue in unrighteousness and sin are not righteous in God’s sight, they are simply liars who have nothing to do with God.

10. Living faith in God has works of obedience
Deceivers twist the Word of God to preach grace of God, believing and confessing Lord Jesus and the blood of Jesus as all empty of obeying God. So also, it is Satan and his servants who preach the false teaching called ‘righteousness by faith’ that is empty of obeying Jesus’s commandments. True living faith according to the Word of God will have works of obedience. James 2:19-20 says, "Thou believes that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?" Faith in God is not simply thinking and trusting that God is real; even the devils do that much. Faith in God is also not stating and declaring great things about your knowledge and relationship with God: Titus 1:16 says, "They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate." Those who truly know and love God, have living faith in God and do the commandments of Jesus with evidence of works of obedience. If you do evil, but still testify, declare, and believe yourself to be righteous—that does not make you righteous in God’s sight. It only makes you a deceived, filthy liar. The grace of God brings the teaching, power, and presence of God to help you live a godly life with fruits of righteousness. Truly believing and confessing Lord Jesus is to do what he tells you to do, and it will be evident by good deeds. The blood of Jesus will be for those who sanctify themselves by obeying the truth and walking in the light.

11. Narrow way to Heaven requires doing Jesus’s commandments: No alternate way
In Matthew 7:13-14 Jesus says, "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Jesus warns the many will be deceived into taking a wide alternate path to heaven, but their end will be eternal destruction. Will you choose eternal life and obey God and do good, or will you choose death and disobey God and do evil? Do not be deceived into taking an alternate path. If anyone preaches assurance of heaven that does NOT require obeying the commandments of Jesus, that person is a deceiver and a servant of Satan. Eternal judgment of your soul will be according to your works of obeying or disobeying God. Narrow is the way that leads to eternal life. That narrow way to enter heaven is righteousness that is doing Jesus’s commandments.
